We are evaluating to do something similar. 

Our main concern is to load lots of different portlets/apps to one Portal Server and then be uncapable of determine which one is consuming or making trouble. Especially since those different apps could be built by differente companies...

The problem we are facing now is that there are known restrictions of using WSRP in comparison to traditional local portlets. The Portal 6.1 Information Center describes briefly these limitations and we couldn&#039;t find any other source of info.

I think it is an important issue that a product aimed for medium or big companies can&#039;t be distributed by application.
